The above statement is true.

Running does slow down the digestive system. Blood diversion from the digestive tract to the muscles causes the digestion system to slow down.

It also depends on the intensity, fast dehydration slows the blood flow back to the intestinal tract.

Running how ever has its benefits obviously. It makes you healthier and your cardio vascular fitness increases. It can also be a great idea in case you want to loose weight.
