Write an equation in standard form for each line described . 1. The line that is parallel to x-2y+7=0 and contains (-4,0) 2. A. Can the equation of the line through (2,5) and (2,8) be written in slope intercept form ? Why or why not ? B . Write the equation of the line in standard form thanks ! Explain

x - 2y + 7 = 0
-2y = -x - 7
y = 1/2x + 7/2...slope here is 1/2. A parallel line will have the same slope.

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 1/2
(-4,0)...x = -4 and y = 0
now we solve for b, the y int
0 = 1/2(-4) + b
0 = - 2 + b
2 = b

so ur parallel equation is : y = 1/2x + 2
=================
(2,5)(2,8)....notice how the x's are the same...they are both 2. This means that the line is a vertical line with an undefined slope. Because the slope is undefined, it CANNOT be written in slope intercept form.
