Let the two numbers be x and y, then
x - y = 48 . . . (1)
x + y = 60 . . . (2)

(1) - (2) => -2y = -12 => y = -12/-2 = 6
From (1), x - 6 = 48 => x = 48 + 6 = 54

Therefore, the two numbers are 54 and 6.
