WWI or WWII and in both wars Germany brought great devastation towards surrounding lands and pounded France In I and II aswell as air bombing England.

This costed Hundreds of thousands of lives of Soldiers and civilians.

Why did Britain and France advocate harsh punishment toward Germany, during peace delegations?
