Civil rights and equality have played a major role in American history. People have been fighting for rights based on gender, ethnicity, race, and other attributes for centuries. In what way did the Quakers participate in the early fight for human rights?

Because of their firm belief in Jesus Christ, the Quakers had played a major role in many societal issues in the past. They condemn slavery, racial and gender inequality. They believed that everyone is equal in the eyes of God. They had tried to create a movement in the past to abolish slavery in Great Britain.
