Can someone explain square Roots? Because i honesty just don't get it.

taking the square root of a number is finding the closest number that will go into that number evenly.

i.e. the square root of 64 is 8. 8×8 is 64
hopefully that makes sense and keep in mind not all number have an even square root

Can someone explain square Roots? Because i honesty just don't get it.
