What impact did the criminal laws in Hammurabi's code have?

They helped maintain order in society, and mediated disagreements over buisness contracts. Also, the codes aided upper class white males, and did little to nothing when it came to helping women or slaves.

The Hammurabi's Code is the oldest set of laws known to exist. Its creation allowed men, women, slaves, and all others to read and understand the laws that governed their lives. It became a basis for the present laws we have in the present. Hope this helps.
