When Britain won, the French gave up all their claims in Canada and all claims east of the Mississippi. Since the war was expensive, the British government decided that the colonists should deal with some of costs through taxation since the British government had fought in North America to protect them. With this, it caused a problem between the British government and the British colonists that lived in America.
