During the Red Scare, many nativists held the sentiment "Keep America for Americans." How did this sentiment influence U.S. policy during the 1920s?

This sentiment influenced the US policy in a way which made them isolationist. They didn't want to fiddle in outside issues which didn't necessarily reflect their own interests. For that reason, the US was isolationist for some time from the first to the second war.
