The Battle of Britain represented the first major defeat of Germany forces and also the world's first battle fought only in the sky. The Allied victory came with high losses for both sides, but contributed to give hope to the already feared Europeans. As a result, Hitler suspended a landing on the British Isles and suspended the Battle of Britain. And less than one year after, he decided to broke the pact of nonaggression signed with Joseph Stalin in 1939, opening the destructive Eastern front.
