What causes denaturation?

These are some of the things that may cause denaturation:
external stress or compound such as a strong acid or base, a concentrated inorganic salt, an organic solvent (e.g., alcohol orchloroform), radiation or heat.
If this happens, cell activity may be disrupted and it can die.
