\text{A power is a short way to represent same multiplication.}
\text{The power has a base and an exponent. The base is the number that is}

\text{The exponent tells how many times the base is multiplied.}

A number raised to the second power has an exponent above it. To the second power means the number multiplied by itself once.

x^2 is equal to (x)(x)

Hope this helps :)
