2/3x = 3.5 + 3/8x
8 • (2/3x) = 3.5 + 3 • (3/8)
16/24 X = 3.5 + 9/24 X
16/24x - 9/24x = 3.5
7/24 X = 3.5
7x/24 = 3.5
24 • (7x/24) = 3.5 • 24
7x = 84
7x/7 = 84/7
X = 12.
The number is 12.
