If an atom has 7 valence electrons, how many electrons does it need to gain to achieve a stable electron configuration? electrons

an atom with 7 valence electrons would need only one more electron to fill that outer shell and make it stable (whereit doesn't want to react with anything anymore)

it takes one more electron because it needs 8 to make it complete
