The enormous building projects at Abu Simbel were built by the Pharaoh Ramses II (C) between 1303 and 1213 BC. He commissioned the building of colossal monuments on the West side of the Nile River in the south of Egypt which remains today some of the most famous landmarks in all of Egypt.
