Converting Uranium to thorium by decresing the number of protons from 92 to 90 and decreasing the number of neutrons from146 to 144 is an example of Alpha Decay.

Alpha Decay is a radioactive decay in which an atomic nucleus emits an alpha particle and nucleus left behind has its atomic number reduced by 2 and its mass number reduced by 4. See attached picture for the complete reaction.
