we are given with the free-fall function expressed as y = –16t2 + 224. To get the time of fall, equate y equal to zero as this means the stone has already reached the bottom. Doing this, t is equal to square root of 14 or equivalent to 3.74 seconds

Knowing this, you and the company determined that the velocity at which the fireworks should be launched is 224 feet/second. The function that now models the height of the fireworks is f(t) = -16t2 + 224t.
