They are cancerous and are made up of cells that grow out of control. The cells in the tumor spread to the surrounding tissue and that spreads to other parts in your body.

A tumor is an abnormal mass of tissue that may be solid or fluid-filled. Malignant tumors are tumors which cells are abnormal and can grow uncontrollably. these tumors are also referred to as cancerous. These cells can spread to other tissues within the body—this is called metastasis. When the cells in the tumor are normal on the other hand, the tumor is called benign.
