George Washington was pivotal to inaugurating the new federal government because he became the first US president through a unanimous decision. He created a cabinet system during his presidency. He was the one who appointed Hamilton, Jefferson, and Knox as Secretaries of Treasury, State and War respectively. The Bill of Rights was included in the Constitution during his term.
