Let A represent Augusto and let P represent peter
Augusto earned $50. First, let's add 50 two times to Augusto's total because the problem says Peter earned $40 less than twice asmuch as Augusto. That equals 100. Then it says $40 less than that total ($100), so 100-40=60. That means that Peter earned $50

So that means the expression would be 50x2-40
