There were two parties Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Federalists thought that limiting the federal or nations power may result in national security threats as well as uneven governance of the country while Anti-Federalists were of the opinion that if too much power if given to the Federal government it will result in a tyrannical monarchy like British and people under that rule will be oppressed.
