The fluidity comes from the cholesterol molecules, which help in regulating and keeping the membrane fluid. It can also be known as fluid or moving as the phospholipids in the cell membrane move laterally and even from one layer to another in the bilayer. The mosaic refers to the different transmembrane proteins; channel proteins, carrier proteins embedded in the plasma membrane with the phospholipids arranged uniformly in a bilayer.
