So, to establish colonies was needed a lot of physical power and that was found in the african labor. Brought as slave, africans constituted the principal and huge working force back then.

Also, in some point, colonies used native people to their purposes because the labor that had to be done was superior to the number of labor force people.

The only problem using indigenous was the bacterias and pathogens that europeans possessed, which native people never was in touch. That became in deathly results for indigenous people.
