In essence, Justinian had a wife who heavily influenced his decisions with woman in his society. Her name was Theodora, she was a woman that advocated for a lot of woman's rights. To name one of the top of my head she made it so that when a woman's husband died her dowry that was paid upon their marriage would become her property again.
