The last remnant of England's medieval empire in France is the Channel Islands. These are an archipielago in the English channel off the Normandie coast of France. These do not belong neither to the United Kingdim nor the European Union, but they are possessions of the British Crown with independent administrations. They are divided into the Bailiwicks of Guernsey and Jersey, two British Crown Dependencies.
