we should consider what is good for world too. As US is most developed nation in the world, it should help other nations to develop by trading with them. if US starts being shellfish, then the friendly nations will break relations with US and stop trading with us. this will lead to shortage of goods in US.

Can the United States afford to only consider what is good for the United States? Or do we also need to consider what is good for the world too? Why?
