Social commentary includes statements about a culture's institutions. Social commentaries are your thoughts about a matter in a society - you often disagree with the way the institutions are working and running things, and thus you want to say something about that and perhaps start a change that will affect the world in a positive way. This is when you make your social commentary with the aim of influencing the world.
