The 1929 design that was inspired by ancient Egyptian folding chairs is the Barcelona chair. It was designed by Ludwig Mies van Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1929, when it was showcased at the International Exposition of 1929. Originally, ivory-colored pigskin was used, but it was replaced with bovine leather in the 50s.
