The Junior High band sold candy for a fund-raiser. The profit from the candy sale was $180. The girls sold three times as much candy as the boys. How much of the total profit did the girls provide?

Let x = the boys
3x = the girls

x + 3x = 180
4x = 180
4x/4 = 180/4
x = 45 boy's profit.

3x = 3(45) = 135 girl's profit.
