Two cars are traveling on a desert road, as shown below. After 5.0 s, they are side by side at the next telephone pole. The distance between the poles is 85.5 m.

(a) the displacement of car A after 5.0 s
m
(b) the displacement of car B after 5.0 s
m
(c) the average velocity of car A during 5.0 s
m/s
(d) the average velocity of car B during 5.0 s
m/s

The answer is:

a) the displacement of car A after 5.0 s = 85.5 m

b) the displacement of car B after 5.0 s = 171 m

C) the average velocity of car A during 5.0 s =17.1 m/s

d) the average velocity of car B during 5.0 s = 34.2m/s

The explanation:

a) when car B was away car A about 85.5 m and after 5 s it reaches car B SO car A need a displacement a bout 85.5m to reach Car B

So our answer here will be 85.5 m.

b) and when car B is going in the same velocity and car A has reached it by displacement 85.5 so the displacement of car B will be = 85.5 * 2 = 171 m

c) when the average velocity = displacement (carA) / time

= 85.5 m / 5 s = 17.1 m/s

d) and the average velocity for car B = displacement (carB) / time

= 171m / 5s = 34.2 m/s
