Belgium wanted to imperialize the Congo for economic reasons. It had highly valuable resources such as ivory, rubber, and precious minerals. Belgium built railroads because certain parts of the Congo were not accessible by water. All Belgium wanted to do was make as much money as possible by colonizing.;Congo became one of the most wealthy countries in Africa because of all the natural resources and rubber that were being made. So, yes imperialism did effect industrialism in the Congo because the thought of independence made all locals and people of the Congo to strive harder for their economy.
