The earlier historians consider the Medieval Period the Dark Ages cause they were influenced by the iluminist thinking and by the hard-to-find primary sources. Also, it's part of an marxist militancy that ignore all the rational things of that age, just because they were made by the church.

The main reason that the earlier historians considered the Medieval Period the Dark Ages was because there was a limited amount of information given about that time period.
