What is epsilon zero and why does it come into use, particularly in the case of Gauss's Law?

Epsilon zero is a constant number that is used in coulomb's law, which is related to gauss's law. This law is related to the electric force. If one will calculate the flux of the electric field through a sphere that contains a point charge in its middle, epsilon zero comes up as a constant
