The midpoint of the line segment can be determined by taking the average of each component. In this case,
x-component/ abscissa(1 + -3 ) /2 = -1 y-component / ordinate(2 + 6 ) /2 = 4
hence the midpoint of the line segment is at (-1 , 4)
