Climate played a pivotal role as far as agriculture was concerned in the colonies. If the climate was dry and scarcity of water was evident, then it would be tough on agriculture. If the climate was suitable and the amount of water available for agriculture was enough, then cultivation flourished and people not only grew food for themselves, but they could also sell the excess foods they generated.
