While some people wanted to establish what was known as the League of Nations, a predecessor to the UN, many feared such an alliance and wanted to keep to themselves, applying isolationist policies. Such was the sentiment in the US, but also some other countries where various types of governments were implemented such as Spain that saw the rise of Fascism and complete isolation.
