In the given expression 3/4 x + 5/8=4x, the first step to take to extract the value of x is to transpose 4x from the right side to the left side and transpose 5/8 to the other side. Transposition means applying an operation that is opposite to the operation of the number to be transferred. Hence the operation applied should be subtraction of 5/8 and 4x. The answer is x = 26/5.
