The total cost for the repair is the sum of the wage from the labor which is dependent on time and that of the fixed cost for the parts of the car. Let x be the number of hours,
$210 + ($80)x = $490
The value of x from the equation is x = 3.5. Therefore, it took 3.5 hours to repair the car.
