One way of converting the number with lots of zeroes to a number with limited number of significant figures, is to convert them to scientific notation. The scientific notation with only 4 sig. figs. of the number above is 8.270 x 10^14.

Re-write the quantity 827,000,000,000,000 picoseconds to show: 4 sig. figs.
