Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) synthesis refers to the creation of a new DNA molecule, which occurs in the cell cycle’s synthesis phase (S phase). Duplication of the centrosome, which organizes microtubules to help insure proper chromosomal segregation during cellular division, as well as DNA replication occur during this phase and are necessary for the stimulation of cellular division.
