A polyatomic ion is a molecuar ion that is composed of more than one element. The elements in this molecule are chemically bonded and is a charge chemical species. These atoms act as a simgle unit. Examples are C2H3O2^- (acetate), CO3^2- (carbonate) and CrO4^2- (chromate).
