Answer: 18*22=396

18*22=
(10*22) + (8*22)=
220+176=396

Multiply the two. The units will cancel out. 22 miles per gallon can be expressed as 22 miles / 1 gallon, so you can write the following:
18 gallons * 22 miles / 1 gallon
Which simplifies to 18 * 22 miles = 396 miles.
