The rate of reaction (reaction rate) is the
 time it takes for a chemical reaction to
 occur. The reaction rate is controlled by
 many factors, including the
 concentration of the reactants, the
 temperature, the surface area, pressure,
 and the presence of the catalyst.
 Many people are familiar with the rate of
 reaction as a result of using sugar to
 sweeten either hot or cold tea. Sugar
 dissolves faster in a warm liquid than in
