The time, T, for a car to travel from Macon to Atlanta is inversely proportional to the speed, R. If it takes 1.75 hours to travel between the two cities at 55 mph, find (in hours) the time to travel between the two cities at 70 mph. It would take ____ hours to travel from Macon to Atlanta. As the time and the speed are inversely proportional:
1.75 : t = 70 : 55
70 t = 1.75 · 55
70 t = 96.25
t = 96.25 : 70 = 1.375 ≈ 1.38 ( rounded to 2 decimal places )
It would take 1.38 hours to travel from Macon to Atlanta.
