An ecological hot spot is an area where many species are at high risk of extinction due to primarily human activity. Habitat loss is rampant and also leading to habitat extinction. Human habitats tend to coincide or intervene with species habitats in such a way that about 20% of people all over the world live within ecological hotspots.
