One learns genetics from the past first. Learn from the past geneticists and their accomplishments. Their accomplishments are the foothold of the field of genetics. From there, one must understand the study and role of chromosomes. It is basically the fundamental unit of genetics. Then, one must be familiar with the cell cycle. Genetics then branches out beautifully further.
