How did the style of earlier pyramids differ from the style of the great pyramids?

I believe that the best answer for this question is D, "they looked like staggered steps." A popular feature of early Egyptian pyramids is "mastaba," or steps. They often appear as if they were placed on top of one another to create a staggered look. The later pyramids did not have this feature. Hope this helps.
