A cook decided to add salt to a pot of soup that was boiling on the stove. As soon as the salt was added, the soup stopped boiling. Explain why this happened. . . @Callisto @Preetha @thomaster @ybarrap

By adding salt into soup, the boiling point of the soup changes. This called the boiling point elevation. This happens when the non-volatile solute(which is the salt) is added into the pure solvent(which is the soup), does making the evaporation of the soup faster instead of the liquid molecular level of it.
