Kinetic energy of the particles is the measure of energy of the molecules when they are in motion. Kinetic energy is increased when phase change occurs from solid to liquid to gas. Solid has a rigid state which disables the particles to move unlike that in gas and liquid state where liquids can move more because of the spaces in between them.
