Read the sentence.

I need to stop at several places, including: the bank, the grocery store, and the dry cleaners.

Which best explains why the colon after "including” should be removed?

Answer:

the introductory text in the sentence cannot stand alone.

Step-by-step explanation:

The colon after 'including' should be removed because it is completely unnecessary. The word 'including' acts as a colon of sorts, so using both is redundant. You can either delete the colon and leave the sentence as is, or delete the word 'including' and add a colon, but not both.

You should list the other choices if it's multiple choice but, it should be a semicolon instead of a colon.
